The ATS Automation PLC/PC computer uses subroutines to determine log diameter, length and sweep, and to calculate the "best-fit" log bucking solutions to maximize the number of prime-length saw logs while respecting sweep limits to minimize wood wastage.
A computer interface allows the operator to monitor the system operation and the calculated log bucking solutions along with other log information (diameter, length).
