Log Studies
A detailed Log Study will research the quality and yield of wood products such as lumber, veneer and chips. The quality and yield data will be used to develop economic comparisons for the plant. The Log Study will consist of the following:
-
Proxy sample candidate stands to determine if diameter distributions are acceptable
-
Random sampling to pick the sample stems and number of stems to collect cruise data
-
Harvest and deliver stems to a processing facility
-
Weigh, scan and process
-
Collect and store scanned data for future simulation runs
-
Wood products from each sample will be tallied and classified by grade
-
Scanned data will be used to simulate the mill process
-
Correlation will be made between sample groups and mill production
