Twin Saw Circular Sawmills

Twin Saw Circular mills consist of a main saw and smaller edger blades (one or more) mounted 90 degrees to the main blade. The saw unit is mounted on a powered carriage that passes the saws through a stationary log. A single or double board can be cut with each pass down the log. The saw unit returns to the start position and is moved sideways for the next cut. Automated versions have the ability to return the sawn lumber or flitches back to the operator. Throughout the whole operation the log remains stationary and can either be sawn sitting on the ground or on a deck.

Especially useful for sawing large logs in place with moderate horsepower requirements. These mills do not require edgers or resaw equipment because they make at least two cuts at a time. In addition the design allows for smaller more stable blades which result in reduced kerf (1/4" to 5/16") and less waste. Can be powered by electric or diesel/gas engines.
