Portable Debarkers

Debarking of logs in the field can be desirable for increased saw life, for wood chipping operations or reduction of the spread of tree diseases/insects. Portable debarker types for whole logs include flail debarkers, ring debarkers, rotary/drum debarkers, rosser head debarkers, etc.

For small scale portable sawmills it is often beneficial to debark or selectively debark logs before sawing to extend the time between blade sharpening. Some sawmills offer a debarker option which makes a shallow cut ahead of the main saw blade to remove mud, rocks, dirt and thick bark.
