Cartridge Dust Collectors
Cartridge collectors are efficient in the collection of dust with high bulk densities and fine dust particles. They use perforated metal cartridges with pleated, non woven filtering media. The dust is removed by pulse-jet cleaning to dislodge the dust cake where it falls into a collection container below. Efficient fine particle filtering capability is dependent on filter specifications and buildup of a sufficient layer of dust cake.
Aimed primarily at medium/large wood shops these units are typically housed outdoors in a fixed location with plastic or metal ducting running to each machine center. These machines can be sized to handle dust collection from one to many machine centers at a time. Often used in conjunction with a cyclone pre filter. As is the case with most dust collecting equipment, proper sizing and design is important. For maximum efficiency and safety, special attention should be paid to blower capacity, housing design, duct sizing, duct types, duct lengths, air speed, air volume, filter quality and sizing.
