Post and Pole Peeling / Debarking

High production post and pole production involves operator controlled equipment to feed, peel / plane surface and removed the peeled log from the work area. The peeling / planing is required to remove the bark and to produce a uniform surface for easy handling and chemical treatment impregnation.

In post and pole production logs (raw materials) are sorted according to diameter (near desired final diameter). The bark is then removed from the log to remove places for insects to hide and to produce a uniform surface. The peeling/planing can be done using a post/pole peeler or ring debarker. The process yields post and poles that have a range of diameters that fit within a diameter specification. They can be fairly rough, with some sweep and are usually not perfectly round.
