Post and Pole Drill / Tenon

Some fence post and pole assembly methods use holes and tenons to attach the vertical posts and horizontal rails together. The vertical posts require holes to be drilled into them and the horizontal rails need tenons formed on their ends.

The holes required for the vertical posts are achieved by either single head drill equipment or gang drills. Single drills require the operator to drill a hole and advance the post to the next hole position. Gang drills have multiple drill heads that can be positioned at preset positions and simultaneously drill all required holes. Tenons are formed on the ends of the rails by a clamping them in place and forcing a rotating tenon cutter over the ends.
